⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Picking Sea Street Publishing was the best idea! Ali assured me every step of the way with publishing my book and even hand delivered my books when they were all printed! She has been great to work with and I am just so impressed with the level of professionalism and care she has for what she does and the people who reach out to her! Even with my countless, sometimes multiple emails per day, she was so helpful and I’ll be forever grateful that o chose this company and her to work with! I plan to create more versions and book and will be using them again!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I worked with Ali Farrell to publish my book through Sea Street Publishing. From beginning to end, Ali gave 100% on my project. She seamlessly incorporated illustrators and editors without me lifting a finger, all while negotiating and strategizing in order to keep the project within my budget. Ali listened to my thoughts, needs, and changes, and acted on them immediately. She was easy to communicate with and her knowledge of the publishing business was extremely helpful for this project. I would love to work with Sea Street Publishing again! - Ray Bogigian

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ So much fun to be part of the Pretty Rugged project and make connections with other Lobsterwomen here on the coast of Maine. We do love what we do and the lifestyle we have raised our children in, to be hard workers and strong women! Ali has honored and created a great legacy for us with Pretty Rugged and we appreciate her dedication to lobstering in Maine!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Lobstergirl Can is our daughter's favorite bedtime book.  Our 7 year old loves having her dad read this book to her. It’s so well said and the photos and storyline are stimulating for a 1 st grader. Great work!

Ali and her guest contributors share some wonderful stories and find ways to lightly motivate even the busiest bada$$ woman out there... thanks gals!
You can tell she did her homework and backed up the inspiration with facts and studies. And you can’t help but enjoy her positive outlook on whatever life throws our way.
If you need a healthy kick in the butt with some validation of how awesome you are, this is definitely worth a read!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pretty Combat is great! I wish you had written this when I was younger. I think I would’ve done alot of things differently to get where I am today. Not that I would change anything. Mindset is huge and you nailed it from the first chapter to the last. I’m going to use what I learned to get my side gig with RF going. Thank you for sharing. I truly enjoyed reading this book!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pretty Combat is a great motivator. I love that Ali put it all out there. The good, the bad, the funny. She writes the things we all know, but in a way that is digestible and entertaining, making it feel attainable.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pretty Combat is full of truth bombs and life changers. Get ready for real life. Although not a long book, what you read will focus your mind and empower your heart. The target audience would be 20-40 yr old females. The interesting other audience would be the men reading for a little insight. Cannot wait to read it again!!

I’ve been reading this to my class and they love it. Full of life lessons and strong, hard-working women, this book is prefect for my high schoolers. Highly recommend!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Lobstergirl Can is a good uplifting story about a little girl who doesn't give up when people tell her she can't because she's a girl. The story follows her escapades throughout a few adventures. Also nice to see some Maine icons mentioned in the book! Illustrations are beautiful too!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’m glad I chose to read Pretty Rugged!

I like that the chapters are short, I can read just one more chapter without it taking too long! The point of the chapter and clear and concise.

Ali puts her voice into her writing which is refreshing and allows the reader to connect to the book. The scientific tidbits are educational in a way you don’t realize you’re learning! She gets into the tough subjects without acting like she knows all and writes tactfully so as not to offend anyone. I would recommend this book to anyone who needs to reset their mind from a negative to a positive mindset. It would be appropriate for teens to adults.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is an outstanding book which interviews dozens of women fishers who work off Maine in the United States. They are captains and crew, some have grown up with fishing and others came to it as adults but they all have pride in their work, their physical strenth and expertise. The joy of this book is that it details how they work in every detail including when pregnant. Small children get taken to sea sometimes because there isn't alternative childcare, some of these women's earliest experience of the sea was lying in a padded crate while their dad hauled lobster traps.

It's dangerous, heavy work and the women discuss the challenges of proving yourself, the weather, accidents, the trauma of near-death experiences and not all boats have toilets. There is also lone-working and the sexism they experience. They also talk about the other threats of “Right Whale Regulations”, rising bait prices, tariff restrictions, virus outbreaks, the warming Atlantic and divisions between the lobstermen.

The author details the costs, the trap limits and sustainability measures and how children often start fishing in high school. The women talk about their love of the sea and species around them and worrying about the effects of climate change. But they also worry about the drop in earnings so some are involved in the highly profitable and totally unsustainable baby eels harvest - elvers for the luxery export market.

The term fishers has been used lately as an attempt to non-gender commercial fishing and recognise that women round the world have always fished, processed fish and managed marine resources and still do but very little has written about them. It is striking here that many of these women don't experience sexism from other fishermen but from the related trades or women in their own families. This may explain why all fishers call themselves fishermen and are called fishermen by other fishers, whether they are women or men. In lived experience it's probably difficult not to respect women who can haul hundreds of lobster traps, fix their engines, cope with morning sickness and juggling parenting and get in safely just ahead of a gale.
