"Let the beauty of what you love be what you do."
Although there are MANY people that make the publishing process work, we'd like to start by introducing a few of our team members!!
Ali Farrell, Owner
Camden, ME
Ali is a mother of 2, living in mid-coast Maine. She has a great love and gratitude for her small Maine community.
Farrell is a 4-time published author, and is passionate about hiring local Maine authors, illustrators, photographers, editors, and team members to join the Sea Street Publishing team!
Farrell has also run Ali Farrell Photography for over a decade and plans to continue squeezing in time for her work as a photographer.
Virginia Souza, Illustrator
Thomaston, ME
Virginia has been honing her skills as an artist, and selling her work, for almost 60 years.
She has been educated in different mediums
at multiple colleges, including Harvard University and MA College of Art.
You may recognize some of her work, as she's been the face behind the Christmas covers of the Lighthouse Digest Magazine for the past 25 years.
Virginia has also illustrated numerous children's books, coloring books, magazines, and cookbooks.
Her favorite mediums are acrylics, pencil, pen, colored pencils, and watercolor. Her favorite subjects include nautical, New England landscapes, fantasy animals/creatures, and pet portraits!
Sol Caponigro, Illustrator
Sol is an artist and illustrator originally from Midcoast Maine, and a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, where her focus has been on illustrating for publishing.
A lover of myths and stories, Sol enjoys bringing out the fantastical in nature through observation, and the natural in the fantastic through imagination.
She's also frequently involved with theatre and has been making and performing with puppets in the past year. On a given day you can usually find Sol drawing, bothering her cat Sumi, or nearly mixing up her teacup with a jar of paint water.
"I have a keen interest in design, but primarily have passion for drawing the natural world, figures and animals, and while much of my work is in the palm of the fantastical, I am comfortable pushing my style to more contemporary directions."
Emily Miller, Illustrator
Warren, ME
Emily is an up-and-coming digital illustrator. She specializes in anime and comic illustrations, bringing fresh ideas to our team, and a new style of digital art to SSP!
"Hello, my name is Emily Miller. I’ve always had a certain dedication to artwork, and how it could make people feel, ever since I could pick up a crayon. Bringing them a feeling of happiness and wonder as well as sadness.
In later middle school, I found myself more and more fascinated with art and its wide range of genres mainly invested in manga and anime at the time. I'd spend my summers reading what the library had to offer and using that as a reference in my sketchbooks. After I moved here I focused a lot on my art journey, it was my comfort zone and eventually opened up friendships. A few years later in my Sophomore year I decided to attend the vocational school in Rockland for the Design Tech class with Mr. Swoards, he is an amazing mentor. Back then I was too shy and held little confidence in my work or my capabilities of what I could accomplish. Four years later I still attended the school and had competed in SkillsUSA coming out of it with a few medals. Now I wouldn't put my worth to a hunk of metal but the symbolism there for me is I went from not believing in my skills to challenging myself to see how far I could go. Thanks to his support and the amazing environment of like-minded people I am where I am today working with authors, creating amazing works of art for my own stories and others. And I am very grateful to be where I am now."

When not working her day job as a Literacy Coach in the public school sector, she loves to read, write plays and children’s stories, and participate in local theater productions.
